Every country publishes a regulated statutory student rate through official insurers (Germany: TK, AOK, Barmer; Netherlands: nominal policy rate + zorgtoeslag; France: Sécurité sociale étudiante). We render the statutory figure with the publishing authority + effective-from date.
No affiliate rates, no commercial comparison sites.Commercial insurance-broker rates are marketing prices, not the number a student will actually pay for the statutory-equivalent plan.
Days of work to cover a year of insurance.The S2 “days of work per country” framing turns the statutory rate into a decision-shaping unit — the conversion uses the country’s official student part-time hourly minimum where available.
What’s missing today
The Cost-of-living section on preview city pages currently shows “—” for statutory health insurance. When the first per-country rate lands (Germany first per S2 sequencing: “insurance data (days) → visa change-detection → rent via Nibud/DSW”), this methodology page fills out with per-country source tables + last-verified dates.
