This includes use of local public transport free of charge on Mondays to Fridays in the evening, at weekends and on public holidays. In addition, students may purchase a semester ticket for unlimited use of public transport in the city of Tübingen and the surrounding area (currently about 150 EUR). Costs of living Estimated basic student expenses are about 950 EUR per month according to the Tübingen Student Services organisation (“Studierendenwerk”), including rent for student accommodation. Rent for private accommodation will be more expensive. Funding opportunities within the university No Academic admission requirements A prerequisite for admission to the Master’s programme in Romance Literary Studies is a BA degree with a minimum overall grade of 2.5 in a Romance Studies subject or in a humanities subject with a Romance-related focus, or an equivalent degree. The Examination Board decides on the equivalence of a degree. Language requirements During the course of study, proficiency in two Romance languages (major and minor) must be demonstrated: one at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (major language) and the other at level B2 CEFR (minor language). In the case of the French and Francophone Studies study profile, the major language must be French; in the case of the Spanish and Latin American Studies study profile, the major language must be Spanish. In both of these latter cases, the second Romance language may be substituted with proof of Latin proficiency, either in the form of a Latinum certificate or equivalent proof such as “Latin Knowledge for Romance Studies”. Rooms in student accommodation cost approx. 200 to 440 EUR per month. As Tübingen is a very attractive place to live, private accommodation is more expensive and can take some effort to find. To make sure you find a suitable place to live, you should start looking as early as possible.
