120 ECTS over 24 months — core foundations, then a track of your choice, then a thesis.
The automotive industry is of outstanding importance both nationally and internationally. At the same time, the industry, its products, and the market are changing at a rapid pace. Students in the Master’s degree program in Automotive Engineering (M.Sc.) learn to analyze and actively shape these transformations and to develop technologically innovative solutions for the mobility of the future. The program educates automotive engineers who are able to develop and implement innovative vehicles, mobility systems, and business models at the interface of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software engineering. Students adopt a holistic perspective on mobility, vehicles, subsystems, and the diverse interactions among them. They combine an in-depth understanding of the engineering, mathematical, and scientific foundations of automotive engineering with individual areas of specialization, for example in production, materials, electric vehicles, autonomous driving, mobility and transport, simulation, control theory, or entrepreneurship and management. Graduates of the program are interdisciplinary experts with a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of automotive development and production. They are capable of analyzing, developing, and deploying state-of-the-art technologies for use in vehicles and mobility systems in a requirements-oriented manner. They are also distinguished by strong cooperation and communication skills. This qualifies them excellently for positions of responsibility in all areas of the automotive industry or in the public sector, as well as for the continuation of their academic careers in the context of doctoral research.
