About engineering master’s in Germany
Engineering is Germany's flagship master's territory. The TU9 alliance (RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig, TU Darmstadt, TU Dresden, Leibniz Hannover, KIT, TU Munich, Stuttgart) sets the international reputation, but strong programmes also live at TU Hamburg, TU Ilmenau, University of Duisburg-Essen, and Fraunhofer-partnered applied-science universities. Public tuition is essentially free (semester contribution €150–€400 covers transit + student services); Baden-Württemberg charges €1,500/semester for non-EU students. Sub-fields with the deepest English-taught coverage: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, automotive engineering, aerospace, computational engineering, and — increasingly — sustainable engineering + energy systems.
